Consent

Before we can carry out any treatment for a pupil, we do need to have written consent from the parent/guardian.

There are varying degrees of consent:

Emergency consent gives Mr Buchanan consent to get a pupil out of pain or trouble but the routine dentistry would be continue to be done by the pupil's dentist at home.

Full consent gives Mr Buchanan the consent to carry out whatever treatment is necessary to make the pupil dentally fit. Parents would be consulted about complex treatments proposed.

Orthodontic consent is sought from the patient/parent for each course of orthodontic treatment, and details what the treatment involves.

Mouthguard consent is sought from the patient/parent for the provision of a custom-made mouthguard.
